Leaders from the INDIA bloc, comprising prominent figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, and Tejashwi Yadav, have organized a ‘Loktantra Bachao Rally’ at Ramlila ground in the national capital. The rally aims to protest against the recent arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

Currently, Kejriwal remains in ED custody until April 1, sparking widespread criticism and calls for justice among opposition parties. In response to the rally, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory, anticipating significant disruptions in traffic flow due to the large gathering and protest activities.

The advisory outlines traffic regulations for a six-hour period, covering key routes such as Ranjeet Singh Flyover, Vivekanand Marg, Hamdard Chowk, JLN Marg, and Ajmeri Gate. Commuters are urged to cooperate by using alternate routes and public transport options, especially the metro services.

Meanwhile, prominent figures like Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, Jharkhand CM Champai Soren, and AAP Minister Gopal Rai have joined the rally, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding democracy and condemning what they perceive as misuse of investigative agencies for political ends.

Kalpana Soren stressed, “We are doing this to save the democracy of our country,” while Jharkhand CM Champai Soren expressed concerns about the central government’s alleged promotion of dictatorship. AAP Minister Gopal Rai highlighted the nationwide protests following Kejriwal’s arrest and voiced concerns about the broader implications for democracy in the country.

The INDIA bloc’s Maha Rally serves as a platform for opposition leaders to voice their solidarity, concerns, and calls for accountability in what they view as a critical moment for democratic values in India.
